Pocket App crowned Silver Winners in UK [app] design awards 2015

THEDESIGN

Pocket App is proud to be Silver Winners in the UK [app] design awards 2015. Pocket App won in the categories Best New Service or Application for the app 999eye and Community for the app My Poppy. The UK app design awards celebrate the courage of those who commission, create and consume high end design, praising those who create and underpin demand for design.

Pocket App worked in collaboration with the West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) to create a new mobile solution, 999eye, with the intention of using a smartphone to transform the way incident information is communicated to the emergency services. With 999eye, emergency callers can stream live footage from an incident to the emergency operator, providing real-time information for first responders en-route, tactical level managers, strategic leaders and partner agencies. The end goal for 999eye is to enable emergency operators to determine the most effective response for an emergency, and to ultimately save lives.

Pocket App was approached by News UK and The Sun Newspaper, to design and develop a donation app as part of its Remembrance Day Poppy Appeal campaign with the Royal British Legion. The ‘My Poppy’ app utilised SMS to enable users to donate £2 to the cause at the tap of a button. After donating, users received their own digital poppy that could be shared via in-built social sharing options. A microsite was also developed in order to demonstrate the number of downloads via an interactive poppy field as well as information pages about the Royal British Legion.
