Apple’s new MacBook is amazingly thin and light, it’s beautifully designed and it brings several interesting new technological solutions, including a thinner keyboard and the thinnest Retina display ever. It’s all about style while still combining it with oodles of power.

  • Design

It’s only 13.1 mm thick and it comes in silver, gold and space gray. It’s the thinnest MacBook ever which makes it 24% thinner than the previous thinnest MacBook, the 11in MacBook Air. It also weighs just 2lbs.

  • Display

The new MacBook has a 12-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Retina display which is 2304 by 1440 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It’s a much sharper screen than the MacBook Air (13-inch) which has a 1440 by 900 pixels resolution or even the 11-inch MacBook Air which has just 1366 x 768 pixels.

  • Keyboard

The new keyboard uses a butterfly mechanism rather than the previous scissor mechanism to improve precision and accuracy and allows Apple to make it 40% thinner.

  • Touchpad

It also features the all-new Force Touch trackpad which has built-in force sensors that allows users to customize the trackpad based on the pressure exerted. There’s also a new gesture called Force Click, which is essentially a click followed by a deeper press. It eliminates the right click, which will be an interesting new feature to explore.

Although the new MacBook reveals new innovations, it has a few downfalls too.

  • Battery

The new MacBook has 35 percent more battery which up to 9 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 10 hours of movie playback. The MacBook Air (13-inch) delivers up to 12 hours both for web and movie playback, while the MacBook Pro with Retina Display will give 10 hours web and 12 hours movie playback.

  • Port

The single USB-C port is a blessing and a curse. On one hand, the single reversible port allows the new MacBook to be impossibly thin. On the other hand, you will need to purchase an adapter to simultaneously charge and output video to an external display and connect a hard drive or flash drive or DVD drive with a full-sized USB.

  • Camera

Every Mac ships with a 720p resolution FaceTime HD camera. That’s as low-res as an iPhone 4’s front-facing camera.

The MacBook geared with power and performance; unveiling technologically advanced features makes it a very attractive and compact device.
