Jewson.co.uk is the UK’s leading timber and building merchants with over 600 branches and 230 Sales execs throughout the UK. Operating with around 250k product SKU’s across 21 unique markets in the UK, Jewson had historically delivered pricing information to its exec sales team via legacy systems such as paper documents and email.
“This was an issue for a number of reasons, firstly it gave an unprofessional and perhaps archaic look which would not elicit confidence from the client. Secondly, our execs would print off the product lines that they felt were most applicable to the client, however they would not have access to all products and up-to-date product prices.”
Following a web search they initiated a novel approach. They contacted Pocket App and two other agencies and invited them to a 2-day paid ‘hackathon’ at the Jewson offices. Jewson briefed each of the agencies and then asked them to design and develop an application suitable for their UK sales force.
Over the course of the 2-day session, Pocket App provided initial designs early stage development, with support from the Jewson sale team of a prototype Native application for Android (4.4) Suitable for Modern Android devices including Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony & Google ranges.
Following on from the hackathon Pocket App continued to design and fully develop an application in coordination with the Jewson digital and sales teams.
